Good morning and welcome to Bethel Church. Alan Hodgkinson is bringing God’s message to us today. Alan and his wife, Sue, were regulars at Bethel until they moved from Northwich last year and it’s always good to see them whenever they can visit.

This morning Alan will be explaining to us how the letter of James is uncompromising and contains some very blunt messages for its readers. In chapter 3 James challenges all of us with his warnings about the use of our tongue. What we say can be good but all too often it isn’t.

Be prepared for some serious heart searching this morning - especially appropriate as we come to the Lord’s Table when we invite everyone who knows and loves Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour to eat and drink with us in remembrance of Him – for giving His life for us and the sins of the world. If you are not sure, please stay but let the bread and grape juice pass you by - you won’t be judged for doing so. Maybe you could consider why Jesus died for you and ask Him today to be your Saviour.

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness.” James 3:9 (p.1215)
