Hello and welcome to our Family Service at Bethel Church. If you are a visitor worshipping with us today, we trust you enjoy the service and stay for a cuppa afterwards. This morning’s service includes the Lord’s Supper - we have an “open table” at Bethel and invite everyone who knows and loves the Lord Jesus as their Saviour to share in Communion. If you are not sure, then just let the bread and grape juice pass you, but consider that God loves you and why Jesus died for you.

Today’s sermon is about shepherds and servants – a message taken from the book of Acts. We’ll consider what the Bible teaches about elders and deacons and God’s concern that we would be powerful in word and deed. This also fits in very neatly with the prayer time we’ll have today for the new Leadership Team which met for the first time on Thursday. Whilst the team hasn’t the same responsibilities as the elders and deacons, it will support them in ensuring the smooth running of our church programme and coordination of all the different groups.

“Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom… and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”
