Welcome to Bethel Church

What Is "Bethel Church"?

Bethel Evangelical Church is situated in the ancient town of Northwich on the Cheshire Plains in North West England.

Northwich, lies at the confluence of the Rivers Dane and Weaver and was a Roman salt mining town and therefore has a history stretching back 2,000 years. Our church is a little younger than that! It was established in 1984 and in the present building from 1990. However, we can claim authentic links with the Christian Church of the 1st Century – we use the same Scriptures, worship the same Lord and believe in the same Gospel.

Although we are an independent Church we do have strong connections with other churches and we support the Evangelical Alliance, an organization which represents over a million Evangelicals from various Christian denominations in Great Britain.

The 4 hallmarks of Evangelicalism have been well summarized by Anglican Theologian Alistair McGrath:

  1. A focus, both devotional and theological on the person of Jesus Christ, especially his death on the cross for our redemption

  2. The identification of Scripture as the ultimate authority in matters of spirituality, doctrine and ethics

  3. An emphasis on the need for conversion or a ‘new birth’ as a life changing experience

  4. A proper and urgent concern for sharing the faith with others, especially through evangelism

Our four main aims as a church are:

Access for people with Special Needs

The church building was designed with full wheel chair access in mind and occupies one floor only. The main entrance has a very shallow slope and no step. We have two parking spaces situated close to the main entrance reserved for parking for people who use wheel chairs. We also have a purpose built toilet.

For people who require to use a hearing aid the main hall is fitted with and induction loop. For people who are able to use sign language then we do have one church member who is willing to offer communication support up to CACDP level 2.
